The new Suquamish Museum facility, designed by Seattle based Mithun Architects, opened in September 2012. From the moment you walk between the welcoming posts, the path through the new exhibit, Ancient Shores – Changing Tides will engage your senses. Movement, textures, a forest-inspired environment and the symbolic movement of the tide will touch the imagination. The objects owned by the Suquamish Museum, many never before exhibited, and those on loan from Suquamish families and other museums, will engage visitors to learn about the lives and culture of the Suquamish and Coast Salish Tribes. Also, visit the site of the traditional Suquamish winter village site on Agate Passage at, Old Man House Park, and stop by the gravesite of a famous Suquamish leader Sealth, better by his anglicized name, Seattle, known and celebrated throughout the world for his wisdom during a time of great change for his people.
